As of June 30, 2017, U.S. drilling rigs totaled 940 units, which represents increases versus January 27, 2017 and March 31, 2017, when rigs totaled 712 and 824, respectively. The latest figure represents a decrease of one rig and an increase of 509 rigs versus the prior week and year, respectively. Land-based and inland water rigs were flat at 915 and four, respectively, versus the previous week, while the offshore rig count decreased by one unit to 21 rigs.
